They Keep Killing Glenn — and for good reason

At Farpoint in 2017, we were enjoying our usual Crazy 8 Press panel, when somehow the event ended with the team agreeing to write an anthology where every author would find some gruesome way to kill our member Glenn Hauman. You have to understand, we love Glenn. But, he can’t get out of his own way sometimes, which causes ruffled feathers so invariably one or another of us has muttered, “I’m gonna kill him.”Peter David, who has known him the longest, I think, immediately volunteered to edit the anthology. And then the wackiness ensued. There was a flood of people hearing about this within nanoseconds of the decision being made volunteering to get in on the fun. We heard from people across the country with alarming speed. Apparently, this was wish fulfillment writ large. What’s interesting to me is that I immediately honed in on one incident that was perfect for a murder. Way back at Millennium Philcon, Glenn was attired as Qui-Gon Jinn and was mistaken by a homeless woman as the reincarnation of her Lord and Savior. Since the con shared the convention facilities with a Southern Baptist gathering, I took two and two, and found my story.“Is it You?” is accompanied by tales from David Mack, David Gerrold, Keith DeCandido, Michael Jan Friedman, Aaron Rosenberg, Russ Colchamiro, Paul Kupperberg, Joe Corallo, Mary Fan, Lorraine J. Anderson, Hildy Silverman, Setsu Uzume, Brett Hudgins, Blair Learn, S. Brady Calhoun, Jenifer Purcell Rosenberg, Amy Lewanski, Dean Scott, and, of course, co-editors Peter David and Kathleen O’Shea David. At the Greater Philadelphia Comic-Con, it took just mentioning the project to painter J.K. Woodward to sign on. He later took pictures of the deceased and the results are a delight. There will be a wake for the deceased next Friday, July 6, at 9 p.m., prior to the official release of the anthology during Shore Leave. For those interested in seeing Glenn killed time and again, or just want to read some fun stories with a similar theme, you may already order it over at Amazon.
